Dr Tom McClelland is a lecturer at the University of Cambridge who works in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and King's College. Tom's research covers a range of topics at the intersection of philosophy, psychology and technology. He has a special interest in philosophy of film, focusing on how cinema teaches us about the world by prompting us to think and inviting us to shift our perspective. His published work explores classic films including Rear Window, Being John Malkovich and Barbie.
A Cock and Bull Story
Michael Winterbottom's witty take on Laurence Sterne's classic stars Steve Coogan as Sterne's eponymous hero and as Steve Coogan, a vain actor with a roving eye...and a sweet wife and baby in tow. Coogan encounters temptation on the set of the film of 'Tristram Shandy'. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast and crew try to do justice to the notoriously complex novel.
