MADE IN EAST ANGLIA
Filmed in Flixton Hall, Suffolk
Flixton Hall was the seat of one of the largest estates in Suffolk in the 19th century. A 17th century mansion set within a deer park, it was rebuilt by Anthony Salvin in the 1840s and extended by Fairfax B. Wade in the late 1880s. After being purchased by a private speculator in 1950 the hall had its protective lead roofing removed, causing servere water damage and leading to it being largely demolished 1952 leaving only the shell of part of the ground floor standing today.
This showing will begin with a 9 minute short film from the Children’s Film Foundation "Our Magazine No 11 (1955)" in place of our usual pre-film trailers.
Our Magazine was a regular item in children’s matinées in the 1950s featuring short clips from the era on a variety of subjects.
